About Me Hi, I'm Lindsay! Throughout high school, I baked cakes with friends for something fun to do on weekends. In February 2011 after switching to an Entrepreneurship major at the University of North Dakota, the idea of Lb Cakes started to come to reality. Beginning summer 2011, I started taking cake decorating classes at Michael's. I enjoyed it so much that I began working as a cake decorator in the SuperTarget bakery. Having worked there for two years and graduating from UND with majors in Marketing, Management and Entrepreneurship, I moved on to a full time job on campus. This has given me the confidence and financial stability to pursue Lb Cakes as a real business, even if it is part time.
I found a rental kitchen in Fargo, ND and in June 2014 was able to register in the state of North Dakota as a licensed bakery. In December 2014, I trademarked my name and logo and business has been booming since. In September 2015, I started using the kitchen at my full time workplace in Grand Forks so I am now certified in Grand Forks! I have a great support group backing me up and pushing me every step of the way. I am married to my wonderful husband, Andrew, who puts up with my crazy work hours. My parent's also live in Grand Forks and they help out with my business whenever possible. We are a close-knit group and I love spending time with them! |
